Hi & Dry....

Kamille and I are very thankfull that our house is high and dry and over 6 miles from the Red River. The Red has crested in Fargo and should crest here in Grand Forks by Tuesday or maybe Wednesday. I went down yesterday and helped sandbag. I learned a couple of things, one I am not as young as I once was. Most of the volunteers were high school and college kids, the schools let out for anyone who helped sandbag. My 30 year old body was attempting to throw sand bags with H.S. hockey players and the UND defensive line....yeah, I am pretty much laying on the floor and playing with Ella today!....Number two the people close to the river need our prayers. In the area I was, the homes were probably built in the mid 70's. They survived the flood of '97 and the city dike system that was built does not protect this certain area, so they are making sandbag leeves to protect every house to 54'. The river is supposed to crest at 54' in GF and the city dike system protects up to 60'. So, (fingers crossed) most of the city should be fine..

Here are a couple pictures.....My girls hanging out today....

This is from the blizzard pictures you saw a couple of weeks ago, snow like this in March....no worries, we have a X534 with a 47" front mount snowblower for next year! More pictures to come, it should be here sometime this week....

My biggest fan when I am out blowing snow.....She LOVES to watch by the window....

My little helper in the kitchen!.......

This morning we woke up to a BEAUTIFUL sunrise....Our view at the kitchen table when Kamille and I are enjoying our cup of coffee! (much better than the Barking dog in KC)

Hope you all enjoyed....Love you bye, Jason

"Who Is It?!"

It has been brought to our attention that I have been slacking here... sorry. Ella is keeping me very busy these days!

Well, we are going to consider this to be her first phrase. "Who is it?" We get this any time she hears something out of the ordinary house noises such as a phone ringing, knock, or even the garage door opening.

Ella is walking everywhere now. She loves to carry stuff around the house and figured out that it is easier to walk and carry than crawl. So!.. No more crawling for her. She figured out Sunday how to stand up in the middle of the room so she is getting around even faster now. I lost her this morning after getting her dressed. Little stink made her way out to the dining room looking out our back door in the time it took me to get her PJ's and diapers cleaned up. QUICK!

We are still staying afloat here in GF. There is water filling up everywhere possible. But I do believe it is certainly worse in Fargo as they had a lot more snow with this last snow that dropped on us. Today it was rainy/drizzly all day and turned to freezing rain late this afternoon. Our front window has so much ice on it that you can't see through it. We are hoping to keep electricity tonight and praying that our trees won't be broken tomorrow. We are to be getting more snow over the next few days and temps in the 20's. Kinda yucky. I have thought of many times that we should just fly to California... Oh well. Spring is coming........right?!?!??!

Stay warm... HA! All of you.. except for the Lane's... better be enjoying the nice warm weather. Take in a few extra minutes for us up here~

Blizzard update

These shots are the exact same view from this mornings photos. It has gotten worse in just the last 30 minutes. I am interested to see how long it is going to take Jason to dig himself out in the morning. I will post photos of that, don't you worry ;-)

Are you kidding me?

I keep checking the calendar and yep, it is still March 10th today. And it is to be worse this afternoon/night! Needless to say, we aren't going anywhere today.

Some Ella in action shots~

Posting some videos we took of Ella today. She is very talkative (as you will see). Tonight she was entertained by her shadow~ had a great conversation. She loves milk and would drink on it all day long if we would let her. Here we thought it was so funny how she would just take sips on her cup and then go back to her conversation, one handed mind you. ooooo ... She is soooo funny.

And is loving to walk around at night. For some reason that is really the only time she thinks being on her feet is a pretty good deal. She just moves so fast on her knees that I think it will be a few weeks before this is the primary mode of transportation. Tonight she walked all by herself from the fireplace room to her room. It is just amazing to see her walking.

We had a great weekend with the Breuers here! Thanks to Glennis, Judy, Jeff & Sara we accomplished a ton of stuff. Feeling a bit more organized now. AND!. I am happy to report that all the walls in the upstairs of the house are all painted and finished! Just a little bit of touch up in one bathroom and I believe we will be retiring the paint brushes for a few weeks.

We are to be getting a "blizzard" here in the next couple days. I am not exactly sure what to expect when they call for a blizzard. We have milk and a stock of food so I guess we are set. The weather man on the news said that visibility will be zero. Humm... I like white and all. But all white and nothing else might be a little much for me. Jason is here all week just some dealer and customer visits. I am looking forward to having him here full time for a few weeks.

Enjoy the videos and the 70 degree temps for all of you who get them.... I am hating hearing the weather reports from up here. I am keeping my mind on the ball.... 80 degree summer days. yea.. that will be worth it!!

It's SPRING~ Oh wait still freezing temps..

It feels like spring here today!!!!! Granted it is still freezing temperatures. But I tell ya it feels GREAT! All I had to wear out today was a fleece. I ditched the big North Face today. I can't wait for this snow to be gone and get some outside work started. Jason came home last night and it is great to have him back. The days get long with him not around.

The Schwan's man came today!!! WA HO!! We have ice cream again!! Now feels like home...hehheehe.

Here are some photos of Ella and I. Jason says he doesn't have enough with me in them. I guess that is because I am always on the other side!

Have a great weekend!!
Ella LOVES her sippy cup and 'real' milk. She has learned the sign for milk and uses it all day long. Some times I have to trick her into drinking water or she would carry this cup of milk all day long. Daddy is pretty happy about her love for dairy. She and him could sit and eat cheese all day.

My new threads

We wanted to get a shot of Ella's new threads from her Gpa & Gma Breuer for her birthday. And that dang tongue!.. It comes out like that every time a camera comes out. I have a feeling this is going to be an issue in the many photos to come in her future.

Also, we are using some new reading material for the training process. It seems to be working fairly well. She has done really well this week using it! Daddy got this book for his little peanut before we knew much about her... I was only about 3 months pregnant when he was sure she had this title in her collection.

We miss everyone very much~ It was -20 when we woke up. Yeeps! But it has certainly warmed up!... now it is -1. wa ho
